SONGS FOR THE HEART AND SPIRIT

The Choral Society of Pensacola presents Songs for the Heart and Spirit – An Evening with Soprano Daisy Jackson on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 7:30p.m. in East Brent Baptist Church, 4801 N. Davis Hwy.

A Pensacola native, Ms. Jackson earned her bachelor of science degree in music education from the University of West Florida as well as a master of music degree in vocal performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Jackson retired from the United States Air Force in 2002 as a member of the Singing Sergeants. Featured as a soloist with The Air Force Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra, Jackson's stunning virtuosity and dramatic lyricism of voice was a hallmark of The United States Air Force Band in performances before presidents, statesmen and military leaders from almost every nation.

The 60-member Choral Society Chorus will join Ms. Jackson for this concert of American music that will focus on sacred selections, including the beautiful spirituals for which Ms. Jackson is known. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Ila Brown.

Tickets for the concert are $15.00 for reserved seating, $12.00 general admission, and $5.00 for students. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted for advance ticket sales, and there is a $2.00 discount per ticket on the purchase of reserved or general admission tickets for groups of ten or more. Tickets will be available at the door.

NEIL SIMON'S "RUMORS"

Gossip, lies, and a smoking gun – what more do you need for a party? Bringing the hilarity back to the PLT stage, America's premier comic playwright, Neil Simon delights audiences with his out and out funny offering, “Rumors”.

Four couples meet at the home of New York City's deputy mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The party never begins though because the host has shot himself in the head (only a minor flesh wound) and his wife is missing. His lawyer and his wife are the first to arrive, hearing the gunshot. Attempting to avoid a public incidence, they weave a cover up that gets progressively more difficult to sustain as the other guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told what about whom. Phones ring, doors slam and hilarity abounds as the couples get more and more crazed. This production contains strong language and adult situations.

Produced by, starring and performed in the theatre named after her, Valerie Russenberger's Curtain Call production runs May 9th through 18th at the Pensacola Little Theatre Downtown Cultural Center. Performances are 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30pm on Sundays. Purchase tickets at the Box Office, by phone at 850.432.2042 or online at www.pensacolalittletheatre.com.
