• ANGELS IN OUR MIDST
The call can come at any hour of the day or night.

A child has been badly beaten, a drug baby needs to be taken from the hospital, a sibling group has been abandoned...

These children need someplace safe until their lives can be set right again.

There are very special people who open their homes and their hearts to these children; they're the Angels In Our Midst.

When they say, "Oh, Sandy, let me tell you the story about this child and that..."

Those stories have opened the door of Sandra and Allen Forster's home to a dozen children in just over two years. Right now, they're foster parents to "four" little ones.

Allen; Peanut there, he came from the hospital. We actually had to go to the hospital and get him. Five days old? Seven.

Peanut's 10 months old now. And there's the Little Princess in the group, Arriana who's seven months old.

Allen; Our girl; we got her 12 days old.

Jack, the ever busybody, is two and a half years old...And all boy.

13 month old Buddy is the newcomer.

Allen; He came to us nine o'clock New Year's eve night because he was in a shelter and had nowhere to go. So, they asked us and we just, we couldn't turn him down.

The children come here afraid, some with bruises and scars, some, their little bodies in withdrawal from drugs. The come in different races, from different backgrounds with many tragic stories, yet, all needing the same thing.

Allen; these are children. They all need a home. All children need a mom and dad. That's what we try to give them.

The Forsters have three sons of their own and only planned to foster one or two babies at a time, at most. So, how'd they end up with four?

Sandra; Because the need is huge. The need for foster homes is tremendous. The children come into the system every day.

While they hope the parents turn their lives around and can get their children back, they'll nurture them in the meantime. The long days and endless nights are worth it.

Sandra; A great accomplishment to be able to see them become happy and well adjusted and to be able to play with other children and to see the smile on their faces.
