NCAA ACADEMIC PROGRESS

The University Of Tennessee loses scholarships in three sports ... And South Alabama loses one basketball scholarships because their student-athletes failed to maintain adequate academic progress.

The NCAA released its academic reform report. Tennessee was below the minimum standards in men's basketball and swimming.

LSU baseball and South Alabama basketball were also cited.

Former Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton was arrested early this morning... Charged with DUI, Hit-And-Run, And Drug Possession.

Hamilton was arrested by Georgia Tech Police, following a hit-and-run accident shortly after midnight.

Police say they found an open beer container and a marijuana cigarette.

Hamilton was recently hired as Tech's Director Of Player Personnel.

GAVIN FLOYD NO-HIT BID

Chicago White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd was sailing along with a 7-1 lead in the ninth... And he was working on a no-hitter.

----

Floyd strikes out Brendan Harris

----

Two outs away.

But Joe Mauer is a tough out.... Floyd loses his no-hitter. But gets a standing ovation.

White Sox won, 7-1.

UWF GOLF

UWF surged to the lead in their ncaa south regional golf tournament. The argos share the lead with st. Edward's for the super-regional. That's going on in austin, texas.

Top five teams from the super-regional advance to the ncaas.

-------

The argos have five players among the top 12 in the tournament. Kyle scott shares the lead at 5-under par.

PJC BASEBALL PRE-STATE

The PJC Pirates open play in the state baseball tournament, Friday, in Winter Haven. They won this thing, as an upstart, four years ago. They won't sneak up on anyone this time.

The Pirates take the number one national ranking into Winter Haven, this week. It's an honor... And a target... They've carried for six weeks.

They've held up under the pressure of heightened expectations. And they've done that in one of the nation's best leagues.

Kyle Marks, Hit PJC-Record .458:

Bill Hamilton, PJC Head Coach:

After going 41-6, the Pirates will have a three-week layoff before they face Lake City, Friday. That's a concern. No team is slump-proof. But the Pirates are close. They hit .406 as a team. And six players, above .390.

Robert Beary, Hit .432 with PJC-Record 15 HR:

But they could play six games in five days. And, as always, the premium is on pitching. Miguel mejia And Blaine Howell And Pace grad Chris Sorce are three solid starters.

For all that, four of the eight teams at state are nationally-ranked. The Pirates have handled every challenge. This is the biggest they've faced. So far.

UWF GOLF AT REGIONALS

UWF's men's golf team is ranked number-one in the nation. But the national tournament may not be any tougher than their super-regional.

Six of the top ten teams in the nation are there. And only five advance to the nationals.

So there's a lot on the line. The Argos are tied for second with fourth-ranked Florida Southern, one stroke behind St. Edward's.

This is the first of three rounds.

--------------

Two Argos, Tobias Rosendahl and Kyle Scott, are tied for second after firing 67's. They're three strokes off the lead.

Playing in Austin, Texas.

---------------

The women are playing their regional outside Orlando. They are currently in sixth place after the first round.
