Political phone calls: Should politicians and political parties be included in the federal 'do not call'law?

93.22% Yes
1.69% No

Comment: No matter what they call themselves, they are still soliciting! 5 & 6 times a day, you answer the phone only to hear a recording! from Shalimar, FL by Bre

Comment: My husband just deleted 42 calls from his phone that were nothing but polical calls our phones received this past week. YES, I do think politicians should be included in that national do not call...This is one thing I would joyfully sign. from pensacola, FL by georgia

Comment: These politicians are calling my cell phone. I am now receiving anywhere from 10-20 calls per day. This is now costing me money every time they call. Additionally, I have to carry my phone at work and these calls are interferrupting me at work. I received six calls in one day from the candidate I had been supporting. After seeing that type of tactic I began looking elsewhere for someone to support. from Pensacola by Lisa

Comment: I put my number on the do not call list to eliminate the same type of calls I am getting at all ours from the political candidates and their supporters. To add insult to injury the calls are from machines not live people. A large number of calls are received and you are listening to dead air(like a hang up call). from Pace by Gary

Comment: Someone calling me at night or during dinner is NOT going to change my vote! from Pensacola, FL by Keri

Comment: I don't like any telemarketers calling our phone. Police, firemen, or politicians. !!! from Ft. Walton beach, Fla by nancy

Comment: Do not call means Do not call!! This is just another example of the THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ME RULE. from pensacola by cathy

Comment: After answering 24 calls the last few days I'm against all Political calls. Several during meal times. Thats a no no. from Niceville, FL by Claudie

Comment: Politicians should NOT be able to exempt themselves. It is so annoying it makes me not even want to go vote. I couldn't even receive an important message from my doctor because my answering machine was filled with these types of messages. I will definately do whatever I can to get them NOT to call our house. from Pensacola by Brooke

Comment: More than annoying --downright maddening!!! from Niceville FL by Alan

Comment: Extremely annoying getting these calls; averaging 5 times a day. from Fort Walton Beach by Rose

Comment: Yes'!!!... they should NOT call. those pre recored calls are annoying and a waste of time. from cantonment by feli

Comment: Over the past 5 days I have had no less than 15 calls from Mitt Romney's campaign. If I could have marked "NO" on the ballot for him I would have. Enough is enough! from Navarre, FL by Scott

Comment: I have been fortunate to have received only 1 call from a politian. However, my friend said that in one day she got multiple calls from many of the candidate. They called so many times that she got very angry and aggrevated. I dont need a politian to call me to try to get my vote. I can do the research myself and make an informed decision about who I want to vote for. If they want to call me they need to do it themselves so that I can ask questions. When they do the automated calls I just get peaved and hang up. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Rachel

Comment: yes, they need to be doing better things to do then calling people. thank you ! from pensacola,fl. by terri

Comment: Yes. I get as many as 10 calls a day and some from the same party 4 to 5 times. Just about dinner time, from Crestview, fl. by Frank

Comment: I pay for my telephone for my convenience; not theirs. from Pensacola by Gene

Comment: Most definitely they should be restricted on calling. My only phone is a cellphone and it cost me with every call. from Walnut Hill by Ted

Comment: No to politics on DO NOT CALL LIST. The only thing I want to hear from politicians are what are they going to do and how are they going to accomplish the goals. NO ONE has ever answere that. from Milton, FL by Sandra

Comment: I have received so many I just hang up. I have already made up my mind and if nothing else they make me vote against the person calling. It is a waste of their money. from Cantonment/FL by Robert

Comment: I for one am tired of getting these Canned calls that are at many times not correct and at all times annoying. It is bad enough to break your neck getting to the phone believing that the call is important on to be bothered by some ball faced lie or claims that are not answered to by the claimer. from Pensacola/FLA by Frederick

Comment: I was lucky enough to be skipped this season, but my mother has received so many of these computerized political calls that she won't answer her phone anymore. from Pace, FL by Sheila

Comment: I am darned sick and tired of Pols exempting themselves from the laws they force the rest of us to live by and we seem powerless to stop them. Perhaps Social Security would work if the Pols had to belong to it instead of the Royal Pension they receive after one term during which most of them don't even show up for work. from Lillian, AL by Patrick

Comment: If the politicians thereself called where you could talk them and ask your own question.I might fell a little better about who I vote for or don`t vote for AND tell them not to call after 6:00 pm when I am spending time with the family from Milton FL. 32570 by Charles

Comment: Why would I pay money to not be disturbed by telemarketers and want to be disturbed by politicians adds? The answer is I don NOT want to be disturbed. All these people seem to forget one of the most important things. That phone on the wall is paid for by ME! It is for MY convenience, not someone else's. from Pensacola, FL. by Bobby

Comment: I don't understand how a politician fall under a not for profit category? Do they work for free? I lost count yesterday....ugghhhh from Pensacola, FL by Bobby

Comment: We voted early after reading about the candidates and also watching several debates. These calls, as many as 3-4/day from the same candidate are a real bother. from Niceville, FL by Bob

Comment: I don't believe in polls and no one has any business knowing who is getting my vote. A brief conversation is not going to sway my decision. So don't pester me with a call...yes, include politicians and polls in the "do not call list". from Pensacola, Fla. by Janet

Comment: Naturally, politicans are against blocking their adds. Blocking their adds is not in their best interest. from Bluewater Bay, FL by Bruce

Comment: i had 8 in a single day. it is crazy to think they can do that but a telemarketer can not. they djould be included in the do not call list. from pensacola by mike

Comment: if these guys are only doing this once every other years i do not mind...(since i am a independent, i only had one call to my cell phone from the governor lol!) and no political email... from p'cola by h

Comment: Setting aside the fact the law doesn't seem to work too well, and the plain common sense that you do not call perfect strangers out of the blue, politicians have to learn the FACT that they to should abide by and be subjected to the laws they enact. And then we get to the little known fact that national politicians are generally "exempt" from obeying the laws which they enact to be enforced upon us. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom

Comment: yes they should be included in the federal law for they to always call around dinner time,or till up my caller I.D. with voice message's from Jay,Fl. by Barbara

Comment: I think..let me get that call, that they, one sec, phones ringing, should not.. nother call, its canditate,,, one more recorded vote 4 me. My ear is swollen from answering political calls from Pensacola, Florida by Robin

Comment: It's annoying! from pensacola florida by meghan

Comment: Why should politicans be given anymore freedom that we get,but boy oh boy they somehow manage.I for one would like to see them get the same treatment everyone dose. from Pensacola/Fl by Bruce

Comment: I really resent the fact that I pay a premium for having a cell phone "specifically" so I dont get unwanted calls, yet I still get calls from politicians and others. I pay for my minutes and am on a strict budget but I have no say somehow in who gets my phone number. Doesn't make sense to me. from Ft Walton Beach by Debbie
