John McCain: Do you think 71 years old is too old to be president?

31.48% Yes
62.96% No

Comment: as long as they are healthy and of sound mind, i don't see that as a problem. its not like it is a physically demanding job. but i would not vote republican anyways. their party does not advocate racial/religious minority's concerns and issues. from p'cola by h

Comment: yes, 71 is too old to be President, NO ONE over 65 should even run. I like John Mc Cain and I respect him, but he is too old to be President of our young country. We need younger men running with newer ideas from pensacola, FL by georgia

Comment: No it is not too old, if health is reasonable, he has some common sense and experience in life. from Walnut Hill, FL by Kenneth

Comment: WE need fresh new blood,to turn things around, he is trying to run on his military record of decades ago. America need new ideas, and policys.by someone that can get things done. thanks from Milton Fl. by Joanne

Comment: I was lucky today and was able to attend the McCain Rally in Fort Walton Beach. I saw a vibrant, happy man, who I think has the stamina and perserverance and wisdom to become a good president. No 71 is not too young. from Mary Esther, Florida by Rose

Comment: No I don't! Just think of all the Supreme Court Justices who are much older than 71. We count on their wisdom, experience and intellect to make major rulings. If you limit the age for President you need to dismiss half of the US Supreme Court first. from Niceville by Joy

Comment: Could be that older & wiser is something this country needs! from milton, Fl by D.

Comment: Great commentary Bob! I too hate when the so called celebrities make commentary or even publicly show support for or against a political candidate or policy. They should learn their place and stay there. Is 71 too old to be president? I think it depends on the individual. In the case of John McCain I believe no. He is in great shape, as you said sharp, and his experience and dedication to the country is unmatched in the current stable of candidates. I hope I'm going as strong as he is at that age! from Pensacola, Fl by Tom

Comment: I BELIEVE MR. MCAIN IS MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO BE OUR PRESIDENT AND THAT HIS AGE IS NOT AN ISSUE. THIS MAN HAS PERSONALLY SEEN AND BEEN THROUGH MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE WILL EVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN A LIFE-TIME.MR.MCAIN HAS MY VOTE AND AS FAR AS I KNOW,MY CHILDREN,BROTHERS AND SISTERS,OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND MY EX-WIFE. A TRUE AMERICAN IS WHAT HE IS AND DESERVES TO BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. WHAT,DO YOU WANT A WOMAN OR A FORIEGNER?OBVIOUSLY EVERYONE SAW HILARIES BREAK DOWN,WHAT WILL SHE DO IF SHE HAS TO PUSH THE BUTTON(GIVE ME THE FOOTBALL,HA,HA!!) LOOK UP OBAMA ON THE INTERNET AND TRY TO JOIN HIS CHURCH,YOU BETTER BE OF COLOR OR YOUR NOT ALLOWED IN THE CLICKL. from PENSACOLA,FL. by HANK

Comment: I just saw him this morning at the Emerald Coast Conference Center - FWB and he is full of energy, conviction, and motivation (despite a PACKED schedule that would wear me out and I'm only 28!). His Mother is in her 90's and is very active on the campaign trail. He obviously has good genes or as my Mother says he "comes from good stock." I think age is really just a number. If you keep yourself healthy, strong, and active you will be able to live a full and busy life well into your "later years." I am inspired by Senator McCains life experiences and passion for serving his country. While most Seniors are retired and "enjoying life." Senator McCain very much wants to be our next President and continue to serve his country. I respect this dedication to service to our country and all of the lessons those 71 years of life has taught him. Especially after today, he has my vote! from Crestview, FL by Katie

Comment: Chuck Norris' acting ability will never equate to John McCain's abilities as a public servant. Mr McCain's age should have nothing to do with him being elected president. After all, he has paid his dues IN FULL to his country. Chuck Norris needs to keep his opinions to himself.Never liked any of his movies anyway. from Monroeville, Alabama by bill

Comment: Bob though most times I have to agree with you and always enjoy listening to your views I must disagree this time. I believe that he is certainly to old, in order to work for the people you first must understand the people, thier needs and their futre where they will be in the next 30 years. I feel that there needs to be a cut off age the same as a starting age. We live in a new world and the best one to work for us is one of us to understand that your child will go to war with mine, to worry about their social security. Not my kids are 50 and i already get my check and I,m stinking rich so my son want need SSI. So yes you need to be in the affected age range from milton by Kieth

Comment: I THOUGT THAT AGE WAS NOT A MATTER OF DISCUSSION WHEN APPLYING FOR A JOB. AS A MATTER OF FACT I WAS UNDER THE OPINION THAT IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW. from GULF BREEZE, FL. by SAMUEL

Comment: Absoulutely not. Attended the rally today. Very alert and in control. That would be like asking if someone is too fat or too ugly would we not want them to run. Was Ronald too old to run his second term? I don't think so. I applaud him for his service to the United States and what he has to offer in the years to come. from Milton, Florida by Bob

Comment: Ronald Regan was 80 (send me an e-mail if I'm wrong) and he was great at being president. from Crestview,FL by Colton

Comment: Yes, but for their own good. Look at the faces of the younger ones, when they go in, when in the middle, and when they come out. It takes a great emotional and mental toll, stess wise. It could easily kill a younger person. How much more an elderly one. from McDavid by Elizabeth

Comment: I just believe Mr. McCain is to old to be a first term president. If he were running for a second term and I agreed with what he had accomplished then I would consider him. You kind of said it with his age he should be there for advise, because he been there done that. Just like most us!! from cantonment by norman

Comment: Let me temper my answer, with the statement: "One's medical records/health condition would have to be the deciding factor". Everyone thought that Ronald Regan was too old for political office, but he turned out to be one of our most prominent presidential office holders. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom

Comment: All I want to know is where can I get my McCain bumper sticker? Bob, if you talk about your dad like that again McCain will send his 95 year old mother to wash your mouth out! from Pensacola, Fl by Brian

Comment: Most people have retired at that age. Will his memory be affected by age? Will his strategies be outdated? We need new blood in Washington. from Pensacola, FL by Karen

Comment: I think McCain and Paul are too old to be President. They may be wise but age is important when wanting to take an important position to lead our country! People start getting a lot slower in their 70's, 80's, and up. It really depends on how good of health they are in but their health could change in a few years. Who knows but my personal opinion is that I think they are too old to run for presidency! from Pensacola, FL by Jennifer

Comment: I am 72,I think. Who was the question? Anyone my age could be chief. Of what? from Pensacola, Florida by Robin

Comment: No, Because Ron Paul is 72. from pensacola by sam

Comment: As long as he is still in good health, then no he is not too old. from Milton by Pam
