Defining Contraception: Do you agree with a proposed regulation that would define a birth control pill or device as abortion?
Comment: If anything, the"pill" prevents abortion. It is a way for women to be responsible and control unwanted pregnancy. from Seminole, Al by Debra
Comment: The question to me holds no relevance, because a birth control device or medication PREVENTS the creation of a human being (therefore a human never exists in the first place), on the contrary, the “morning after pill” could be considered, in my opinion abortion because of the relevance and existence of a human embryo. from Pensacola Fl by Michael
Comment: I do not consider the birth control pill as an abortion since it prevents the woman from ovulating. However, the i-u-d's, morning after pills, etc. cause the fertilized egg to be disposed of and is abortion. I believe life begins at conception and abortion is terribly wrong. from 32503 by Marie
Comment: That's ridiculous; the politics of abortion and birth control have no place in the medical industry. This is clearly an effort to control people's person lives on behalf of the extreme right; the oft-cited concern is that women won't make children if they're taking birth control. Last time I checked, it was a personal right to choose whether or not to have children; trying to cut off access to birth control is just a political ploy to try and force women to choose not to have sex. And that's not even talking about the women who take birth control pills for medical reasons not related to actual sex---such as regulating periods. This is a depressing turn for women's rights, indeed.... from Axis, Alabama by Tim
Comment: I think it is rediculous, doesn't president Bush have anything better to do than start another big uproar about abortion and when life begins? I think he needs to just stick to matters he's already let go too long, humm like the war in Iraq maybe! Election day can not come soon enough for me!!! from baker by cherry
Comment: abortion is the terination of pregnancy. birth control pills are pervention. from Pensacola,Fl by mildred
Comment: WHAT???!! The birth control pill is abortion??? Ummm, don't these people realize that there is no baby when birth control pills work, it's only if the pill, condom,ect... fails could a women get pregnate. An abortion is when a baby is removed from the womens body, if now baby has been conceived, how could it be killed? I would say use common sense, but we are talking about the Bush administration. from Gulf Breeze, FL by L
Comment: I dont agree with anyone defining life in any perceptions. It isnt about the morals or rights of the unborn..its about the red tape issues as usual..pertaining to what funds can be dropped and doing it with reasonning to comply to the funded organizations. Its always about the money..and always camouflaged in lengthy babble to hide the real issues at hand..a political thing. from MILTON by RHONDA
Comment: I strongly disagree with this definition. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Don
Comment: It is antifreedom Republican Christian-Fascist base set up by KR at work. Put up the Whites and Color signs again. I am supprised to see the question on Channel 3. from Bluewater Bay, FL by Bruce
Comment: NO! absolutely not! if this is going to be the definition...whats next...at the point of thinking about it? oh please! from p'cola by h
Comment: There is a difference between a true contraceptive and an abortifacient. The AMA don't really believe that life begins at implantation not at conception--they just pretend to because so many of their members are making big bucks as abortionists, contrary to their Hippocratic oaths. If life really begins at implantation, what about test-tube babies? I oppose abortifacients--i.e. a drug that would end a baby's life--and support true contraceptives. Of course, the best oral contraceptive is just saying "No". from Pensacola, FL by Faith
Comment: No, it is a underhanded effort to reduce women's rights. from Summerdale, al by Joe
Comment: if pregnancy is prevented, then you can't call it contraception. Contraception prevents pregnancy, abortion ends pregnancy.
Comment: How frightening is this? What about the men who impregnate women and then just leave? Where's their justice? Leave women and their doctors alone! We don't need the male-dominated government interfering with our personal rights! How dare them??? from Pensacola, FL by Rebecca
Comment: I am pro-life but this is insane. God made sex to be an enjoyable part of life. If sex was all about having children, once you have a few kids, God would take the desire for sex away. Why is this even a debate??? from Cantonment, FL by Jeremy
Comment: Absolutely not. from Penscola, FL by Jane
Comment: Preventing pregnancy and killing a baby after it has been conceived are two totally different things.I believe preventing pregnancies in most cases is very important. Of course I am speaking as an adult. from Navarre, FL by Carolyn
Comment: Birth control is intended to prevent a pregnancy so a baby is never conceived. How can you abort that which never was from Spanish Fort Alabama by Linda
Comment: I believe that the creation of a unique individual is the moment at which life begins. This event takes place at the point of gastrulation - that point at which the zygote is an ontological individual and can no longer become multiple individuals. Any procedure, medication or device used after that point to prevent birth is abortive. Any type of birth control used prior to that point should not be defined as abortion.
from Crestview, FL by Tony
Comment: And they think the Taliban are a bunch of religious nuts!! If someone doesn’t put a stop to this whole religious fervor we’re headed for another period like the Salem Witch Trials or Spanish Inquisition. from Daphne, AL by Larry
Comment: Religion is the Opiate of the Masses. The Bush administration is wack on crack. from Alabama by Religion is the Opiate
Comment: Under the Uniform Probate Code, unborn children have rights of inheritance the same as children who are already born, and an unborn child gets a lawyer separate from the mother's, to protect the child's own interests and rights of inheritance. It would be interesting to see whether the UPC gives the unborn the right of inheritance from conception or only from implantation. from Pensacola, FL by Faith
Comment: That is a ridiculous and socially irresponsible position to take in this overpopulated world. Perhaps their agenda is to create a new baby boom to they will have plenty of soldiers for their next war. from Pensacola, FL by Dara
Comment: contraception is preventing many, many unwanted pregnancies and births. Just imagine how many children would be born into situations where the child could not be properly cared for if birth control was considered abortion. It just doesn't make sense to me! from milton,fl by steve
Comment: stupid lib's trying to misconstrue the meaning of normal birth control to mean after conception instead of before conception. from lillian, al by wayne
